Dots
Circles. In American mahjong they go with the white dragon (Soap).
Bams
Bamboo sticks. They go with the green dragon. The 1 Bam's design varies a lot from set to set.
Craks
Characters: the top symbol is the Chinese number 1 to 9, and the red symbol below marks the suit. They go with the red dragon. If your set prints small numbers in the corner, read those.
Winds
Four of each. The corner letter in our drawing is the English name. NEWS on the card means one of each.
Dragons
Red goes with Craks, green with Bams, white (Soap) with Dots. On the card, color decides which dragon you need. Used as a zero in year hands, Soap has no suit.
Flowers and jokers
8 flowers (any design counts as F) and 8 jokers. Jokers fill groups of 3 or more, never pairs or singles.
Tile art on this page is our own drawing. Designs vary by set; the corner numbers and letters are what to look for.
