Questions
How do you pay in American mahjong?
The hand's value on the card sets the base. On a discard win, the player who threw the winning tile pays double and the other two pay single. On a self-pick, all three pay double. A jokerless win doubles every payment, except on Singles & Pairs and Quint hands.
How much is a 25 point mahjong hand worth?
At a penny a point, 25 cents. The discarder would pay 50 cents, the others 25 cents each, so the winner collects $1.00.
Does the jokerless bonus stack with the discard double?
Yes. A jokerless win on a discard has the discarder paying four times the base and the others twice the base.
Does the jokerless bonus apply to Singles & Pairs hands?
No. Those hands can't use jokers at all, so the bonus is already built into their value. It doesn't apply to Quints either, since quints need jokers.
